Living Routes Auroville Reunion at Sirius – June 21-24

Calling all alumni from Living Routes’ programs in Auroville, India.  Would you like to reconnect with your peers and other folks passionate about Auroville, India, and sustainable living?  Then have we got the event and deal for you!

Auroville International USA’s annual gathering will be at the Sirius Community this year from June 21-24 and we are combining it with a Living Routes Auroville reunion!  The gathering will be experiential and include…

  • Presentations by Bindu Mohanty (Living Routes faculty), Carel Thieme (Editor of Auroville Today), Daniel Greenberg (Founder of Living Routes), and more.
  • Opportunities to connect with other alumni and share stories and good times.
  • Awareness Through the Body, hatha yoga and pranayama.
  • Hikes, music, good food and a lot of fun.
  • … and Much More!

Through generous contributions from Sirius, the Foundation for World Education, and Living Routes, we are able to offer the following steep discounts to support your participation (these prices include all meals):

  • $30 – Commuting (normally $150).  There may be some tenting spaces at Daniel Greenberg’s house near Sirius
  • $60 – Tenting at Sirius (normally $240)
  • $120 – Shared Room (normally $340).  We encourage commuting or tenting if possible to offer rooms to “older folks” who might need them more.

  • Arrival and departure times (we recommend arriving Thur. afternoon and leaving Sun. after lunch)

Our “Antarctica: Several Years in Extra, Extra Personal Transformation” program is now accepting applications! We foresee this to be one of our more successful programs with alumni coming away with a lot to talk about.

Permaculture Design at Sirius!

Living Routes is excited to post about our USA: Permaculture Design at Sirius course starting in just a few short months! This year’s curriculum is dedicated to giving students a mixture of academics and hands-on experience across a wide range of permaculture subjects! This year’s topics include the essence of ecological design, permaculture design, working with fundamental landscape components, and designing the human habitat!

The USA: Permaculture Design at Sirius is a intensive three-week course based in Sirius Community Ecovillage, Shutesbury, MA.  Faculty for the summer 2012 program include permaculture experts Kay Cafasso of Sowing Solutions Permaculture Design & Education and Jono Neiger of Regnerative Design Group and the Conway School of Landscape Design. Guest faculty include Dave Jacke of Dynamics Ecological Design and Author of Edible Forest Gardens,  Eric Toensmeir Author of Perennial Vegetables, and Ryan Harb of UMass Permaculture and recent White House Campus Champions for Change Award winner.

Become a student and go through the design of projects beginning with interviews of clients, needs assessment, development of real solutions, and culminates in a formal permaculture design and presentation!

Alumnus Ryan Harb Receives a Call from the White House!

Congratulations to Ryan & UMASS Permaculture for being selected as Campus Champions of Change Challenge Finalists!

Living Routes Alumnus Ryan Harb received a call from the White House this week to notify him that UMASS Permaculture was selected as the first of the 15 finalists for the Campus Champions of Change

Challenge! The top 5 projects will win a trip to the White House as well as a spot on MTV’s  ”The Dean’s List”.
